Bonus: New York City
Not written by They Might Be Giants, although that's where I learned it (off of their album Factory Showroom). Who wrote it again, people? A female punk group, was it?
You called me last night, on the telephone
And I was glad to hear from you because I was all alone
You said it's snowing, it's snowing, God I hate this weather
Now I walk through blizzards just to get us back together
Cause everyone's your friend in New York City
And everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
The streets are paved with diamonds and there's just so much to see
But the best thing about New York City is you and me

i am so glad to have discovered this (however late!)--i feel i have been stuck in the same 75 or so rise up singing songs for years (ever since my repertoire expanded by 25 when i started dating my partner who knew a different subset than i did). you are a huge help!!!
ReplyDeletealso, this song is originally by cub, an all-girl pop-punk/cuddlecore band from vancouver from the 90s. i sing this song every time i am going to nyc, because how can you not?
